Engine Parts Shipping and Warranty: Easy, Essential Guide

Engine Parts Shipping and Warranty: How Ordering From Us Works

Buying an engine or a part online raises the same questions every time.

Is it in stock, and how does it get to me? What happens if it arrives damaged, and who stands behind it if something fails?

This guide explains engine parts shipping and warranty on UniversalEngineParts.com in plain language. It shows how stock is handled, how orders are dispatched and delivered, and how manufacturer warranties work.

Everything here is a summary of our own policy pages, which we link throughout. If anything differs, the policy page and your order confirmation apply.

Engine Parts Shipping and Warranty: What We Sell

Our shop lists outboard motors, crate engines, short block engines, engine and transmission combinations, and transmission and drivetrain parts. It also lists engine drives, brake systems, and chassis and suspension parts.

Marine and diesel customers can also browse marine diesel engine parts and read our guides on marine engine spare parts.

If you cannot find what you need, send a Part Request. We will tell you what we can source.

Engine Parts Shipping and Warranty: How Stock and Availability Work

Stock is not the same for every product, and we would rather say so plainly.

The shop has an “In stock” filter, so you can narrow listings to items shown as available. Our Shipping Information page says in-stock items typically ship within one to three business days.

Some categories work differently. For new-old-stock, remanufactured and used outboards, our FAQ says availability varies and asks you to contact us with your requirements. Some listings are marked as available while inventory lasts.

That means a product page is the starting point, not the final word. If timing matters, confirm availability with us before you order.

Use our Compatibility Check page or a Part Request if you want fit and availability confirmed first.

Engine Parts Shipping and Warranty: Ordering Step by Step

Our FAQ describes a simple route.

  1. Find the product in the shop, or send a Part Request if you cannot find it.
  2. Check fit. Match your engine model, serial number and part number. Our guides to the engine part number and marine engine serial number show where to look.
  3. Check out online. Guest checkout is allowed, and an account is optional.
  4. Watch your email for the order confirmation.

If you want a quote, use the Quote Request page. Per our FAQ, a quote includes product pricing and shipping costs.

Creating an account lets you receive order updates and tracking information. You can manage it from My Account.

For payment, our FAQ lists Visa, MasterCard, American Express and bank transfer, which is advance payment. Other methods are shown at checkout. We do not currently offer direct financing.

Engine Parts Shipping and Warranty: Dispatch and Processing

Here is what our Shipping Information page says about timing.

  • Order confirmation: within 24 hours of placing the order.
  • Processing: one to three business days.
  • In-stock items: typically ship within one to three business days.
  • Weekends and holidays: orders are processed on the next business day. Cut-off times are on the page.

Before an order ships, our FAQ says we can usually cancel or modify it with no penalty. Once it has shipped, it cannot be modified. If you need a change, contact us quickly through Contact Us.

Address changes are also possible only before shipping.

Engine Parts Shipping and Warranty: Carriers and Delivery

How a product travels depends on what it is.

  • Outboard motors and crate engines ship as palletised freight, secured in a crate. The page names freight carriers such as DHL Freight, DB Schenker, UPS Freight, DSV and FedEx Freight, depending on the product.
  • Multiple engines or bulk orders ship by pallet or partial truckload with specialised freight carriers.
  • Small parts ship by parcel service, such as DHL Express, UPS or GLS.

Our Shipping Information page says we use reputable, insured carriers.

Delivery estimates are listed by region, in business days after dispatch. They are estimates, and the page says they are not guaranteed.

Region Estimate (business days)
Germany and neighbouring countries 3–5
Western Europe 4–6
Southern Europe 5–8
UK and Switzerland 5–8, plus 1–3 for customs clearance
US and Canada 7–14
Other countries Contact us for an estimate

Final shipping costs are calculated at checkout. The page lists cost estimates by product type for reference, and any free-shipping offers shown on the site apply to standard shipping only.

Engine deliveries need an adult to sign. We need a physical street address and a valid phone number. We cannot deliver to PO boxes or APO/FPO addresses.

Tracking details are sent by email once the order ships. If you want to see more, read the full Shipping Information page.

Engine Parts Shipping and Warranty: Customs, Duties and Taxes

Orders sent within the EU include VAT and have no customs duties, according to our Shipping Information page. EU business customers with a valid VAT number may have VAT removed under reverse charge rules.

For orders outside the EU, the customer pays any duties, customs fees and local taxes. The page says customs delays are not grounds for a refund or cancellation.

Ask your local customs office what applies to your country before you order a heavy item. Our page cannot tell you your local rates.

Engine Parts Shipping and Warranty: Damage, Loss and Claims

An engine is heavy, so check it before the driver leaves.

Our page asks you to do the following.

  • For visible damage, write “DAMAGED” on the delivery receipt before you sign, and take photos.
  • Email us within 48 hours with the details.
  • For concealed damage, do not install the engine. Keep the packaging and report it within 48 hours.

The page states shipments are insured against loss or damage at no extra cost to you. Claims are handled through the carrier, and we help with the process.

It also says we are not liable for lost or stolen packages after the carrier confirms delivery. Arrange for someone to receive the delivery.

Engine Parts Shipping and Warranty: How Warranties Work

This is the part buyers most often misunderstand. For most products, the warranty is a manufacturer’s warranty, set by the manufacturer.

Our Warranty Information page says coverage comes directly from the manufacturer, and that we assist with the process but do not make final approval decisions.

It summarises typical terms, which vary by brand and product.

  • Outboard motors: the page lists a standard three years for recreational use and one year for commercial use on several named brands. Promotional extensions may apply.
  • Crate engines: the page lists terms by brand, from 12 months for some to 24 months for others and 30 months for BluePrint Engines. Most are parts-only unless installed by an authorised dealer.
  • Statutory rights: for consumers, the page also describes the seller’s legal liability for defects for two years from delivery.

Warranty terms can change, and promotions differ by product. Always read the product page and the Warranty Information page for your exact item.

Labor is a common surprise. Some warranties are parts-only, which means they replace parts and do not pay for labor, freight or downtime. Our guide to crate engine warranty covers this in more detail, and our crate engine buying guide helps you compare.

Engine Parts Shipping and Warranty: What Warranties Do Not Cover

Our warranty page lists common exclusions. Read them before you buy, not after a failure.

  • Normal wear items, such as plugs, belts, hoses, filters, impellers, anodes, propellers and gaskets
  • Improper installation
  • Lack of maintenance
  • Misuse or abuse, including racing or competition use
  • Corrosion from neglect or poor storage
  • Unauthorised modifications. The page says opening the engine voids the warranty.
  • Fuel quality problems
  • Improper break-in
  • Commercial use, unless coverage was purchased for it
  • Accident, grounding, fire, theft or vandalism damage
  • Consequential damages, such as towing or downtime

Conditions matter too. Install engines through a qualified professional, follow the manufacturer’s break-in and maintenance schedule, and keep your records. Some brands require registration within a set period.

See our installation guides, engine installation and marine installation pages for help, and our guide on how to winterize an outboard motor for storage care.

Engine Parts Shipping and Warranty: Making a Warranty Claim

Our Warranty Information page describes four steps.

  1. Gather your documents: proof of purchase, engine serial number, maintenance and installation records, and photos or videos of the problem.
  2. Contact our help desk with your order number, engine details and a description of the issue.
  3. Manufacturer or service centre review. Most claims need inspection by an authorised service centre or the manufacturer.
  4. Resolution. This may be repair, replacement, or in limited cases a refund under statutory rights.

The manufacturer makes the final decision, so good records are your best protection. Start a folder on delivery day.

You can also ask a question first through our Technical Consultation page or Contact Us.

Engine Parts Shipping and Warranty: Returns

Our Return Policy page covers returns in detail. Here is the short version.

  • 14-day withdrawal for consumers. Private buyers can notify us within 14 days of receiving the product, then ship it back. Items should be unused and in original packaging, and engines in their original crate.
  • Return shipping. For a change of mind, the customer pays. If the product is defective, wrong or damaged in transit, we pay.
  • Not returnable under withdrawal: custom or made-to-order engines, installed or started engines, modified products, clearance items, items with residual fuel or oil, and consumables such as gaskets and filters.
  • Process. Email us for an RMA number first, and write it on the package.
  • No direct exchanges. Return the item for a refund and place a new order.

The EU’s official consumer site, Your Europe, explains the 14-day right of withdrawal for online purchases. It says goods made to order and some other categories are excluded, and that you generally pay return postage for a change of mind.

Rules differ by country, so check the Return Policy page and your local consumer rights.
