The Lincoln Ranger 305G is the engine drive most career welders end up buying. It runs MIG, TIG, stick, flux-cored wire and arc gouging off a single 23 HP Kohler gas engine, and it does 300 amps at a 100% duty cycle.

Five Processes Without Compromise
DC multi-process output covers general purpose stick, downhill pipe stick, TIG, cored wire, MIG on CO2 or mixed gas, and arc gouging. CV wire welding runs electrodes up to 5/64 in. (2.0 mm).
Lincoln Chopper Technology handles the arc itself — easy starts, smooth arc, low spatter, clean bead appearance. If you have run older engine drives that fight you on 7018 restarts, this is the difference you will notice in the first hour.
Digital weld meters for amps and volts let you pre-set a procedure exactly and watch actual output while you weld. On code work that matters more than any other feature on the panel.
For best results, match your lead length to the output. Long runs of undersized cable will cost you voltage at the arc no matter how good the machine is.
9,500 Watts of Real Generator Power
The Ranger 305G puts out 9,500 watts continuous and 10,500 watts peak for motor starting, single phase, at a constant 120V or 240V regardless of where the weld dial sits.
That is enough to serve as jobsite power or a home backup generator, run lights, grinders and pumps, or power a Lincoln Invertec inverter welder off the machine.
The skewed rotor design is what makes running an inverter possible. Lincoln was first in the welding industry with it, and it means the AC waveform is clean enough for sensitive inverter power sources that will trip or fail on a lesser generator.
Engine and Build
Underneath is a 23 HP Kohler gasoline engine with a carburetor and an electric fuel pump. The fuel pump exists specifically to prevent vapor lock at altitude, which matters if you work in the mountain west.
Welding and AC generator outputs are both rated at 104°F (40°C), so the published numbers hold on a hot summer roof, not just in a lab. At 510 lbs it is a trailer or truck-bed machine, not a two-man carry.
